For Ofir Gals' first proposal following the guidelines that were initially
proposed at the gem-list:

1.     CTRL+A          Select All
2.    Shift+CTRL+A    Deselect All

In a text processor this should select/deselect all text. In object based
apps (like desktops), should select/deselect all object.

To vote in favour of CTRL+A for select All please email [e-mail]
with the body:

To vote in favour of SHIFT+CTRL+A for deselect All in the same email body:

We can only allow on vote per list member, even if there are echoes via
maus, there is no way of telling if they are a list participant unless they
are subscrigbed. This does mean however that you can vote one vote as the
gem-list echo.
